On Desert Polka Party's debut album, well-known polka and waltz melodies are traded happily between accordion, trumpet and clarinet. Tuba and drumset anchor these traditional dance rhythms, while trombone and tenor saxophone add warmth and color. A few traditional jazz tunes offer variety, and the inclusion of two video game theme songs (one a waltz, the other almost a polka) update the Oktoberfest tradition with Gen X nostalgia.
